cát bà island and hạ long bay

A gray few days spent on Cat Ba Island, just off the coast of northern Vietnam. Halong Bay is famous and iconic, though full of trash and terribly maintained -- it was quite depressing, kayaking through garbage. We spent a day cruising around the thousands of limestone islands, drinking beers and taking pictures. Despite the gloom, it was gorgeous. We also rented motorbikes (my first time driving!) and explored Cat Ba National Park, trekking to the top of a mountain for stunning views.

I'm in central Vietnam now, which I'm loving so much more. More to come!
